Thermal Flight in East Tyrol – Tandem Paragliding with a Longer Flying Time
The Thermal Flight is ideal for anyone who would like to experience tandem paragliding more intensely and spend longer in the air. Your tandem pilot uses rising warm air to gain additional height and, depending on the conditions, extend the flight.
During the flight, you can enjoy sweeping views of the Schober Group, the Lienz Dolomites and the surrounding mountains. The Thermal Flight combines a close-to-nature experience, active flying and impressive alpine panoramas.
What to expect on the Thermal Flight
After travelling together to the take-off point, your tandem pilot carefully prepares the paraglider and all the necessary equipment. Before take-off, you will receive a detailed briefing about the take-off, flight and landing.
During the flight, your pilot actively searches for rising warm air. These thermals can provide additional height and extend the flying time. Depending on the weather conditions, this can create longer and more varied sections of flight with impressive views of the mountains of East Tyrol.

Who is the Thermal Flight suitable for?
The Thermal Flight is suitable for anyone who would like to spend longer in the air and experience the more active side of paragliding. It is ideal for nature lovers, active guests and passengers looking for sweeping views and a more intense flying experience.
No previous experience is required. A normal level of physical fitness and the ability to take a few steps during take-off are usually sufficient.
How do thermals work in paragliding?
Thermals develop when air above sun-warmed surfaces heats up and begins to rise. Your tandem pilot uses these currents of rising air to gain height and remain airborne for longer.
The strength of the thermals and the duration of the flight always depend on the weather, wind, time of year and current flying conditions.
Views of the Schober Group and the Dolomites
Depending on the take-off point and weather conditions, the views may extend across the Schober Group, the Kreuzegg Group, the Lienz Dolomites and as far as the Sexten Dolomites. The combination of altitude, flying time and mountain scenery makes the Thermal Flight a particularly memorable experience.
Where is the Thermal Flight available?
The Thermal Flight is mainly offered in suitable flying areas in East Tyrol. Depending on the weather, wind conditions and individual arrangements, flights may also be possible in Upper Carinthia and South Tyrol.
The exact take-off point is selected according to the current thermal and weather conditions.
