Meeting point and ascent
Preparation and take-off
At the take-off point, your pilot carefully prepares the paraglider and all the necessary equipment. You will be provided with a harness and helmet and receive a detailed briefing about the take-off, flight and landing.
When your pilot gives the signal, you take a few steps forwards – and before you know it, you are airborne together.

AIRTIME AUSTRIA mainly offers tandem flights in East Tyrol. Depending on the weather, season and individual arrangements, flights may also be possible in Upper Carinthia and South Tyrol.

Zettersfeld
The take-off point at Steiner Mandl is ideal for tandem flights and can be reached comfortably by the Lienz mountain lifts in both summer and winter.
Once at the top, you can enjoy views of Lienz and the Dolomites or stop for refreshments at the mountain restaurant before heading to the take-off point with your tandem pilot.

Special experiences such as the Early Morning Flight with breakfast, Hike & Fly or Bike & Fly take place on Hochstein, Lienz’s local mountain. Depending on the chosen option, the ascent is made by car, on foot or by e-bike.
Hochstein is particularly impressive early in the morning. After breakfast at Hochsteinhütte, you return to the valley by paraglider.

Frequently asked questions

You do not need any special prior knowledge or experience for a tandem paragliding flight. A normal level of physical fitness and the ability to take a few steps during take-off are usually sufficient.
The permitted body weight is between 15 and 130 kilograms. A tandem flight may also be possible for people with physical limitations. Please contact us in advance so that we can discuss which flight is suitable for you.
There is generally no fixed age limit. The most important factors are the minimum weight of 15 kilograms and the physical ability to take part in the take-off.
At AIRTIME AUSTRIA, both children and older passengers have already enjoyed safe tandem flights. Children and young people require the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
No. You do not need any flying experience or special prior knowledge for a tandem flight. Before take-off, your tandem pilot will calmly explain the entire procedure and accompany you throughout the flight.
Tandem paragliding is not a parachute jump. The pilot and passenger take off together from a slope and gently lift into the air after just a few steps.
After welcoming you, your pilot carefully prepares the paraglider and all the necessary equipment. You will be provided with a harness and a helmet. Your pilot will then explain the take-off, the flight and the landing.
During take-off, you run forwards for a few steps when instructed by the pilot until the paraglider lifts into the air. You can then relax and enjoy the flight and the views over Lienz and the Dolomites.
Shortly before landing, you sit upright as instructed by your pilot and are brought safely back down to the ground.
The actual flying time for a standard tandem flight is approximately 20 minutes. The exact duration may vary depending on the wind, weather and thermal conditions.
Please also allow enough time for the journey to the take-off point, preparation, the safety briefing and the return from the landing area.
Please wear sturdy, non-slip footwear that preferably covers the ankles. Hiking or mountain boots are particularly suitable.
Your clothing should be comfortable and appropriate for the season and weather conditions. Depending on the temperature, we also recommend bringing:
- a windproof jacket
- gloves
- sunglasses
A helmet and all necessary flying equipment will be provided by AIRTIME AUSTRIA.
Yes. You can take part in a tandem flight wearing either glasses or contact lenses without any problems.
Sunglasses also provide protection from the sun and airflow. Your glasses should fit securely during the flight.
Yes, you may bring your own smartphone or a suitable camera. However, the device must be securely attached, for example with a strong wrist strap or another suitable safety attachment.
Alternatively, professional photos and videos of your tandem flight can be taken for you. It is best to ask about this option when making your booking.
You can book your tandem flight via the website, by email or by telephone. You can also redeem a gift voucher.
The exact meeting point and take-off location are arranged according to the season, wind and weather conditions. Depending on the take-off point, the journey up is made either by the Lienz mountain lifts or by car.
Yes. Parking is available depending on the agreed meeting point, landing area or departure point for the journey to the take-off location.
You will receive detailed information about the meeting point, directions and parking before your flight.
Tandem paragliding depends on suitable weather and safe wind conditions. Flights cannot take place in strong winds, rain, dense fog or other unsuitable conditions.
If the flight has to be cancelled or postponed for safety reasons, we will arrange an alternative date with you.
You can change your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before the agreed flight time.
If you cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, a cancellation fee of 85 per cent of the flight price will be charged.
Tandem flights are generally possible throughout the year. Every season offers a special flying experience, from clear winter air to good thermal conditions in summer.
The best time for your chosen flight depends on the weather conditions and the type of flight. Appointments are therefore always arranged individually.
You can pay for your tandem flight in cash on site, by bank transfer or with a valid gift voucher.

Yes. A group discount is available for groups of six people or more.
